HAT.tec @ DWT-SGW “Unmanned Systems IX”

The 9th DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR WEHRTECHNIK e.V. forum ‘Unmanned Systems’ offered an exciting variety of lectures, discussions and exhibition around future perspectives of the armed forces in the land, air and sea domain.
The future battlefield requires UxV integrated in multi-domain operations. The human operator will be increasingly supported and relieved by autonomous systems.
The participating companies therefore devoted high attention to technologies for automating manned but in particular unmanned systems.

In his presentation on Software-defined Capabilities required for Manned-Unmanned Teaming, CEO Dr. Ing Fabian Schmitt from HAT.tec GmbH gave insights into his team’s research and development of the cockpit-integrated mission software #SCALE and the experiences from demonstration and test flights with partner manufacturers of UAV platforms.
Fabian outlined that one key principle of #HumanAutonomyTeaming is to keep the #HumanInTheLoop. The human operator remains the decision maker within the manned-unmanned team (#MUMT), but is able to delegate cognitively demanding tasks to the automation. Human and artificial intelligence (#AI) contribute with their individual strengths to the overall mission goal.
