HAT.tec develops technologies for all kinds of Human Autonomy Teaming applications.
We offer intelligent functions for single and multi-vehicle applications as well as novel interaction and cooperation concepts. Our solutions are specifically tailored to your application.

Today’s UAV automation relies heavily on human operator input (e.g. manual or waypoint based control). Higher cognitive tasks are done exclusively by humans. Our intelligent agents allow the (semi-)autonomous execution of tasks for unmanned air and ground vehicles. These agents include functions for automated mission, sensor and effector planning. A TASK-BASED GUIDANCE concept enables vehicle tasking with minimal workload (no effort). Our agents are able to execute a wide variety of mission while mitigating risk to human operators. Applications comprise rescue missions, the exploration of disaster areas and of unknown and hostile environments.   Future missions are expected to include the massive deployment of unmanned systems that serve as force multipliers. We aim for a high vehicle-to-operator ratio up to the control of multiple unmanned systems by a single operator. Our teaming and swarming solutions are based on task-based guidance, ensuring greater mission effectiveness while reducing operator interaction.   We gained more than 12 years experience in the development of AI-based autonomous task execution.

Mission planning and execution comprises high cognitive capabilities such as planning, monitoring and decision making. Such tasks are characterized by a high demand for mental processing resources. If this demand exceeds the available resources, performance can be negatively impacted. We develop Adaptive Associate Systems to counteract these problems. Such associate systems support humans in the execution of cognitive tasks with the aim of increasing mission performance, correcting possible human errors and proactively preventing them. These systems adapt their support to the task situation and the mental state of the pilot. Despite the high functionality of the associate systems, the human pilot remains the ultimate authority.   Our intelligent digital assistant makes mission tasks faster, easier and significantly more effective. The software supports mission operators in planning and executing the relevant tasks. It autonomously monitors the mission environment and continuously assesses the operator’s performance. Based on actual outcomes, support strategies are automatically derived.

Human Systems Integration (HSI) refers to the integration of humans within and across all systems (of systems). HSI is an essential enabler for superior operator performance and comprises areas such as human factors, human-computer interaction, systems engineering and many more.   Our goal is to design and develop specific solutions matching your application. Thereby we are building on the extensive experience of IFS and take into account the cognitive abilities of both humans and modern automation. Our Automation approaches are based on Delegation and Assistance Concepts. User Interface solutions are available for touch and AR/VR environments.

Mission Management includes the efficient utilization of vehicles, sensors, means of communication and effectors. Successful mission completion in dynamic scenarios requires continuous planning and optimization taking into account time, space and resource constraints. Such tasks are a high challenge for pilots and operators of manned and unmanned mission aircrafts in cockpits and control centers.   We develop novel and innovative mission planning and management systems based on state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence technologies combining the skills of both human and AI. Our solutions comprise integrated AI functions and UI. Despite the high functionality of automated functions, the user remains the ultimate authority. Our services comprise conception, development and integration. The software is deployable on tablets, qualified hardware and consumer hardware.

Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) defines an operational concept that comprises the guidance of (multiple) unmanned vehicles (UxV) from aboard a manned aircraft or ground vehicle. This concept ensures a high level of flexibility, information superiority and security of the aircraft crew.   To enable efficient MUM-T missions, automation systems with powerful AI algorithms are required to reduce the workload for UxV guidance. The challenge is to ensure a high level of situational awareness while keeping the crew’s workload balanced.   MUM-T applications comprise rescue and disaster management as well as border protection and defence tasks.   Our mission planning and autonomous execution solutions serve as key technologies for MUM-T.

Multi-Domain Operations (e.g. across different operating domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber) will be essential in the future to achieve operational advantages.   These changes in the operational environment will require rapid planning, decision making and execution cycles. By synchronizing systems, assets and data sources, Multi-Domain Operations provide a complete picture of the battle space and empower humans to make impactful decisions quickly. Our multi-domain planning and execution solutions help to maximize effects by deploying the well-chosen effects at the right time.
