HAT.tec’s Mission Success at Bückeburg 33. Helicopter Forum

The prestigious 33rd Helicopter Forum at the International Helicopter Training Center (IHTC) on the German Army Airfield in Bückeburg provided a unique platform for participating leading experts and professionals from the helicopter industry discussing the latest advancements and future directions in vertical flight technology.

One of the standout sessions of the forum was coming from Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Schulte‘s (MARC – HuMiCS Lab / Universität der Bundeswehr München) presentation providing an in-depth look on the fundamental research driving advancements in drone guidance systems, emphasizing the importance of Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUMT) in enhancing pilot assistance technologies and operational effectiveness.
Building on that HAT.tec’s CEO Dr. Fabian Schmitt highlighted in his presentation “Mission System for Civil and Military Helicopters” an approach to bridge the gap between state-of-the-art research on the one hand and the product world on the other. He addressed the practical implementation of those researches and tested technologies in HAT.tec’s product solution SCALE.
Fabian emphasized the significance of mission software in both civil and military context. He discussed the transformative potential of MUM-T, where UAVs and manned aircraft collaborate to achieve superior mission outcomes. He also underlined the necessity of adaptive assistance systems supported by AI, designed to enhance the cognitive capabilities of helicopter crews, ensuring their effective response to dynamic mission environments.

As we reflect on the successful participation at the 33rd Helicopter Forum, we are inspired by the advancements and the collaborative spirit witnessed during the event. The forum was not only an opportunity to share knowledge but also a platform for fostering collaboration between participating organizations and industry. The exchange of ideas and experiences at the forum will contribute to our ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of what is possible in vertical flight technology.

We extend our gratitude to the organizers of the forum Kerstin Bals and Dieter Bals from the Hubschrauberzentrum e.V. and the Hubschraubermuseum in Bückeburg for providing such a valuable platform and to all the participants for their insightful contributions. We look forward to continuing our work in this exciting field and the upcoming RotorDrone Forum in 2025.
